Step by step
- Go to Finance › Invoices and press Export (CSV) at the top right. The Export for Xero (CSV) panel opens.
- Set From and To (issue dates; this month is filled in).
- Check Sales account (the Xero account code, usually 200).
- Choose Date format: DD/MM/YYYY for a UK Xero.
- Click Download CSV.
- In Xero, go to Sales › Invoices › Import and upload the file. Check and approve the drafts.
What is in the file
One row per line; rows with the same invoice number become one invoice. Credit notes have negative amounts so Xero imports them as credit notes.
VAT uses Xero's tax types: 20% (VAT on Income), 5% (VAT on Income), Zero Rated Income, or No VAT if you are not VAT registered.
Reference combines their reference, the PO number and, for credit notes, the invoice credited.
Errors
"Choose a valid date range." and "The account code is not valid."
Tips
