Connect GoCardless (Direct Debit)

Collect invoices by Direct Debit into your own GoCardless account. Customers sign a mandate once; each invoice is then collected on its due date and marked paid here.

Where: Administration › Integrations › Getting paid tab › GoCardless — Direct DebitFor Owners, admins

Step by step

  1. Sign in to your GoCardless account at manage.gocardless.com (create one first if you have none; GoCardless checks your business before payouts start).
  2. In GoCardless go to Developers › Create › Access token.
  3. Name it SubClik, choose Read-write access and press Create access token.
  4. Copy the token (it starts with live_). GoCardless shows it only once.
  5. In SubClik open Administration › Integrations, tab Getting paid, paste it into GoCardless access token (read-write) and press Connect.
  6. SubClik checks it with GoCardless and stores it encrypted. You see "GoCardless connected" with your account name.

How collection works

The customer sets up Direct Debit once, on a GoCardless page you send from their customer record.

Each invoice issued to them is then collected by itself on its due date, as long as Collect each issued invoice by Direct Debit on its due date (customers with a mandate) is ticked.

When GoCardless confirms the money, the invoice is marked paid here (and in Xero or QuickBooks through your bank feed).

Once connected

The card shows how many customers are on Direct Debit, how many are invited, payments in progress and failed.

Buttons: Save (collection setting), Check payments now and Disconnect.

Messages

"That does not look like a GoCardless access token (live_… or sandbox_…)."

"GoCardless refused that token. Create a read-write access token in GoCardless → Developers."

Tips

  • Testing first? A sandbox token from manage-sandbox.gocardless.com (starts with sandbox_) works the same way and moves no real money.

Questions

Does the money go through SubClik?

No. It goes from your customer's bank to your GoCardless account and then to your bank.

A customer didn't finish the Direct Debit page.

Their invitation is cancelled after a while. Make a new link from their customer page.
