SubClik Print Server

Install and pair

First create a pairing code in the SubClik Print portal, on the page of the site where the server goes. Codes look like ABCD-EFGH and work once, for 7 days.

Windows

  1. Right-click the downloaded file and choose Run as administrator. If Windows SmartScreen appears, choose More info › Run anyway.
  2. Type the pairing code and press Enter.

It copies itself to C:\Program Files\SubClik Print, pairs, and runs as the Windows service SubClik Print, which starts with the computer and restarts itself after a fault. At the end it shows the address of the release screen. Allow TCP 8631 and 2525 in Windows Defender Firewall for the site’s network.

For scripted installs, the commands still work in an administrator PowerShell:

Linux

  1. Download the file for your computer (64-bit or ARM).
  2. In a terminal, in the download folder:
chmod +x subclik-print-linux-*
sudo ./subclik-print-linux-* setup

Type the pairing code when asked. It copies itself to /opt/subclik-print and installs the service. Step by step instead, with the program saved as /opt/subclik-print/subclik-print:

cd /opt/subclik-print && chmod +x subclik-print
./subclik-print pair ABCD-EFGH
./subclik-print install
./subclik-print start

It runs as a systemd service and restarts itself after a fault. Check it with systemctl status SubClikPrint.

Mac

  1. Download the file for your Mac (Apple silicon or Intel).
  2. In Terminal, in the Downloads folder:
cd ~/Downloads && chmod +x subclik-print-darwin-*
xattr -d com.apple.quarantine subclik-print-darwin-*
sudo ./subclik-print-darwin-* setup

Type the pairing code when asked. It copies itself to /usr/local/subclik-print and installs the service.

It runs as a background service (launchd), starts with the Mac and restarts itself after a fault. Keep the Mac awake: System Settings › Energy › Prevent automatic sleeping. The program is not yet signed by Apple, so the xattr line tells macOS you trust this download.

After pairing, the server takes machines, queues and people from the portal within a minute and keeps a local copy for when the internet is down. Next: add the queue to computers.
