Step by step
- Open the job.
- In Dispatch, choose the Engineer (or Unassigned to take it off them). Non-engineers show their role, for example “(admin)”.
- Set the Planned visit date and time.
- Check the SLA field (its label says what is measured, for example “SLA: arrive by”).
- Choose the Priority: Low, Normal, High or Urgent.
- Press Save dispatch. You see “Saved. The engineer sees the change straight away.”
What happens
An Unassigned job becomes Assigned. Removing the engineer from an Assigned, Accepted or field job puts it back to Unassigned.
The history records “Assigned to <name>” or “Engineer removed”.
The engineer's phone and calendar show the job and the planned time.
Only active members of your firm with the engineer, owner, admin or dispatcher role can be assigned.
Other ways to assign
When logging the call: the Dispatch card on Log a call.
On the Calendar: drag the job onto a day or time, or click it and choose the engineer. On the calendar, a job the engineer has already accepted can only change engineer from the job page.
When you cannot
Once a job is invoiced or cancelled, the Dispatch card says it can no longer be changed.
Tips
- Use Urgent sparingly: urgent and high jobs sort to the top of the board and stand out in red and amber.
- Call the engineer from the phone number shown under the Dispatch card when you move an accepted job to someone else.
Questions
Does the engineer get a notification?
The job appears in their app straight away. They need to accept it.
Can I assign myself?
Yes. Owners, admins and dispatchers are in the list too. You then see My jobs as engineer in the menu.
Can a job have two engineers?
One engineer is assigned. Time and mileage can be added for other members of the firm on the Work & parts tab.
