Step by step
- Set the meter's price per copy first (on the customer's Copy prices, or This machine only on the contract).
- Under Price bands (customer) or under the machine's meter (contract), press + Add price band.
- Enter From copies (e.g.
10000) and the Price per copy from there on (e.g.0.005), then press Add band. - Add more bands the same way (up to 10). Press Remove on a band to take it off.
How a period is priced
Free copies come off first. The copies left are priced band by band: up to the first band at the meter's price, then each band's price from its number on.
Example: 25,000 copies, 1,000 free, bands from 10,000 at 0.005 and from 20,000 at 0.004, price 0.006: 10,000 × 0.006 + 10,000 × 0.005 + 4,000 × 0.004 = £126.00.
Bands count per machine per billing period. When the contract pools copies, they count on the pooled total.
The billing run and the invoice line show the breakdown, e.g. "10,000 at 0.006 + 10,000 at 0.005 + 4,000 at 0.004".
Changes
Bands apply from the next billing run; finalised runs keep what they used. A yearly price increase raises the bands too.
A machine set back to the customer's price list uses the customer's bands.
Works together with
- Customer copy prices (one price list for the whole fleet)One price per meter (mono, colour, A3…) for a customer, used by every machine of theirs on a contract. Change it once and the whole fleet follows from the next billing run.
- How copies are chargedCopies = closing reading minus opening reading. Free copies are taken off, the rest is charged at the price per copy from the machine's own price or the customer's price list.
- Pooled copies and minimum chargesShare free copies across all machines on a contract, and make sure copies never bill less than an agreed minimum.
- Apply a price increaseRaise the service fee, minimum, charges and the contract's own machine prices by a percentage, optionally the customer's copy prices too. Every increase is kept in the price history.
