Step by step
- On the Agents tab, open Settings and actions under the agent.
- Name: how the agent is shown in SubClik.
- Extra network ranges: only if printers are on other networks than this computer, e.g.
10.1.20.0/24. Private ranges up to /16 for an agent; up to /22 for a SubClik Box (it searches at most 1,022 addresses per range and 4,096 in all), so for a Box list the subnets the printers are on. When a Box could not search everything, the agent card says Not searched in full and which part was searched. Separate several with commas. - SNMP communities: tried in order, then
public. Ask the customer's IT if they changed it. - Daily read at (hour): 0–23, default 6. Meters are read once a day at this hour.
- Status check every (hours): 1–24, default 4.
- Scan the computer's own network: untick only if the agent should scan the extra ranges alone.
- Press Save settings. The agent picks the change up within 6 hours, or at its next report.
Tips
- Set the read hour to a time the printers are switched on. Printers that were asleep are tried again every hour.
Works together with
- SNMPv3 users for secure networksWhen the customer's IT has turned off SNMP v1/v2c on the printers, enter the SNMPv3 users set on the printers so the agent or Box can still read them.
- The SubClik Agent window on the customer's PCThe Agent's own window on the customer's computer shows what it found and lets you pair it, choose networks, add printers by address and read its log.
- Ask an agent for something now (read, search, log)Ask an agent to read all its printers now, search the networks again or send its log. It picks the request up within about two minutes.
