Add an agent (create a pairing code)

Create a pairing code for a customer and site. The code connects one Agent or SubClik Box to that customer; it works once and is valid for 7 days.

Where: Customers & machines › Printers & agents › + Add agentFor Owners, admins, dispatchers

Step by step

  1. Open Customers & machines › Printers & agents and press + Add agent at the top right (or Add an agent for this customer on the customer page). The Add an agent panel opens.
  2. Under 1. Create a pairing code for the customer., choose the Customer.
  3. Choose the Site. Pick a single site when the agent only reaches that site's printers, or all sites when one computer reaches every site.
  4. Optionally give it a Name (optional), e.g. School office PC.
  5. Press Create pairing code. The message shows the code (for example K7QM-XH4P) and the agent appears on the Agents tab as Not installed with the code and its expiry time.
  6. Press Copy code next to the code and send it to whoever installs the agent, or type it in yourself on site.

Why the site matters

The agent receives the list of machines on record at that site (or at the customer) and links printers with the same serial number automatically. Its settings window shows them under Machines on record, so the installer can see straight away which ones were found.

Rules

A code works once, for 7 days. If it expires, press New pairing code under Settings and actions on the Agents tab.

Only customers (not your own firm or client companies) are listed, and archived customers are left out.

Tips

  • Use the same pairing step for a SubClik Box: a Box is paired exactly like an agent.
  • Name agents after the computer or place (e.g. Reception PC, Box in print room) so the office can tell them apart.
