Check an agent: online, offline and what it sees

Each agent in the Agents list shows whether it is online, when it last made contact, how many printers it found and which machines on record it has not found yet.

Where: Customers & machines › Printers & agents › Agents tabFor Owners, admins, dispatchers

Step by step

  1. Open Customers & machines › Printers & agents and click the Agents tab (or the Agents online counter). The bell also links here when an agent has been offline for over a day.
  2. Read the pill: Not installed, Paired, no contact yet, Online or Offline.
  3. Under the name you see the computer name, its address, the agent version, last contact and how many printers it found in how many addresses.
  4. Read Machines on record at …: X of Y found. Machines it did not find are listed by make, model and serial.
  5. Open What the agent sees to check its Networks, the Printers installed in Windows, printers that Could not be read (with the reason) and its last log lines.
  6. A red Last problem box shows the latest error the agent reported.

Not read this morning

If some printers were switched off or asleep at the daily read, the agent lists them as Not read this morning (switched off or asleep), trying again every hour.

A SubClik Box

For a Box you see its software version, the Wi-Fi it is on and the signal (strong, good, weak or very weak), how long it has been running, free memory and how many printers it reads. With a very weak signal it says move the Box closer to the Wi-Fi router.

Questions

A machine on record is listed as not found. What now?

Check the printer is on and on a network the agent scans. If the serial number on the printer differs from the one on record, link it by hand on the Printers tab (Other options… › Link to this machine).

How often does an agent check in?

It sends a heartbeat every hour and asks the portal for requests every two minutes. Online means contact in the last 3 hours.
