Step by step
- Open the job. If it is over the limit, the card says so in red and Record the client's approval is already open.
- Type the approved amount ex VAT (it starts at the current total, rounded up).
- Type how they approved, for example “email from J. Smith 11/10, PO 4471”.
- Press Save approval. The card shows the approval and when it was given.
- Owners and admins: to change the limit for this job only, open Change the limit for this job, type the new limit (empty = no limit) and a reason, and press Save limit.
Where the limit comes from
The client company's cost limit, or your firm's default cost limit, is copied onto the job when it is logged.
“No cost limit for this client.” means there is none on this job.
What it blocks
An invoice cannot be created for a job over its limit without approval: “job #… comes to … ex VAT, over the approved limit of …. Record the client's approval first.”
Limit changes are kept in the audit log with the reason.
