Step by step
- On the Printers tab, find a printer marked Not a machine yet (the Not linked to a machine counter shows only those).
- If a machine at that customer has the same serial number, press Link to <make model>.
- Otherwise open Other options…, choose the machine under Existing machine… and press Link to this machine.
- The message says Linked. The latest daily reading is on the machine now; the next ones arrive every day.
What linking does
The machine gets the billing meters the printer reports that it does not have yet (mono, colour, total, scans). A colour or scan counter that is 0 does not get a meter.
Only machines of the same customer that are not linked to another printer are offered.
Printers whose serial number matches a machine on record link themselves; you only need this for the others.
Works together with
- Add a found printer as a new machineTurn a printer the agent found into a new machine record in one click, with its make, model, serial number and meters.
- Unlink a printer from a machineUnlink a printer from the wrong machine. Readings from that printer stop; earlier readings stay on the machine.
- Hide a printer that is not yours (and show it again)Hide printers the agent found that you do not look after (e.g. a desktop inkjet). Hidden printers do not count, send no readings and do not count towards your plan.
- Printers & agents: printer monitoringPrinters & agents is where you connect your customers' printers to SubClik. A small Agent on one PC (or a SubClik Box) at the customer finds every printer and sends meters, toner, error codes and jams here every day.
