Step by step
- Open Customers & machines › Meters & toner and click the To check tab. The menu item shows the number, e.g. Meters & toner (3); Printers & agents shows a link Check them in Meters & toner → and the bell lists them too.
- Under Read from the printers (N), compare From the printer with Last saved for each row and read Why it was held.
- If the printer value is right, press Save. To save a different value, change the number first, then press Save.
- If it is wrong, press Reject. Nothing is saved.
Why a reading is held
lower than the last reading (…): often a replaced board or a counter that was reset.
higher than a later reading (…).
unchanged since …: the same value for 14 days or more.
much higher than usual (expected up to about …) or a very large jump since the last reading.
the date is in the future.
What happens next
A saved reading goes on the machine like any other meter reading and is used by contract billing. A held reading never reaches an invoice unchecked.
If someone already dealt with it you see this reading has already been dealt with.
Tips
- Clear this list before running contract billing at month end.
Works together with
- Meters & tonerEvery machine's counters, toner and errors, grouped by customer. Ask customers for their counters by link, check readings that look wrong before they reach a bill, and export the month's readings.
- Check held readingsApprove, correct or reject meter readings that looked wrong, before they reach a bill.
- Contract billingEach period: calculate a run for the dates, fix flagged lines, finalise, then create the invoices. The same dates can never be billed twice.
- The printer pageEverything the agent knows about one printer: status and current errors, problem counts, toner forecast, error history, daily counters, readings sent to the machine and the device's own details.
