Finish a job: the finish steps

Finish job opens a full-screen set of short steps, one question per screen, so nothing is forgotten: work done, checklist, parts, meters, anything else needed, and sign-off.

Where: Engineer app › Jobs › job › Finish jobFor engineers, Owners, admins, dispatchers

Step by step

  1. Start work on the job first. Then tap Finish job.
  2. What did you do?: describe what you found, what you did and how you tested it. Add a Fix code if you use them. Tap Next.
  3. Checklist (only if the job type has one): answer each item. Tap Next.
  4. Parts used: add every part or consumable you fitted. No parts? Just tap Next.
  5. Meter readings: type the counters from the machine. Tap Next.
  6. Does the machine need anything else?: tap No, it's fixed or Yes, needs parts. Tap Next.
  7. Customer sign-off: customer name and signature (or tick No customer signature and choose why), and whether to email the job sheet. Tap Complete job.

Which steps you see

The top shows "Step 2 of 6" and a progress bar. Steps that do not apply are left out:

The checklist only appears if the job type has one. Parts used and "needs anything else" are left out for delivery, collection and training jobs. Meter readings only appear when the job has a machine.

Moving around

Back goes to the previous step; your answers are kept. Close (top left) closes the steps and returns to the job; on the first step the bottom button says Cancel.

Parts, checklist answers and meter readings are saved as you pass each step. The job is only completed when you tap Complete job on the last step.

Messages you may see

"Describe what you found and what you did.": the work description is required.

"Still to do: …": required checklist items are not answered.

"Choose yes or no.": answer whether the machine needs anything else.

"Enter the customer's name, or tick that there is no signature."

After completing

You go back to My jobs. The job goes to the office as Completed for review and invoicing. If you ticked the email box, the job sheet goes to the contact; if it could not be sent, you see a message and the office is told so they can send it again.

No signal? The whole finish is saved on the phone, the job disappears from your list and the page says "Job completed on this phone. It reaches the office as soon as there is signal."

Tips

  • Write the error code and what fixed it in What did you do?. The next engineer sees it in What fixed this before.
  • Take photos before you open the finish steps: before and after shots help with disputes.

Questions

I closed the finish steps by mistake. Have I lost everything?

Parts, meters and checklist answers already passed are saved. Tap Finish job again and go through the steps; the work description starts from what was saved last.

Can I complete a job without a signature?

Yes. Tick No customer signature and choose a reason (customer not present, refused to sign, remote job, or other).

What if I could not fix it?

Answer Yes, needs parts on the "needs anything else" step. The job goes back to the office as Parts required.

Why is there no Meter readings step?

The job has no machine. If the site has machines, choose one in the yellow box at the top of the job first.

Does the customer get a copy?

If you leave Email the job sheet ticked and the contact has an email address, they get the job sheet PDF by email.
